Seven Story Fall - FEATURE

Hunter Kennedy
I had an opportunity to sit with Hunter Kennedy of Seven Story Fall. Doing a feature on this guy was a no brainer after seeing his music video for the song "Sing to Me". With it's catchy hook and infectious chorus, I had found it stuck in my head for days. His radio friendly pop-punk style of rock seems to be just the thing that the big media folks are looking for and it is a wonder to me that he hasn't hit just yet.

At age 11, Hunter received his first guitar and decided to pursue a band. In 2002, Seven Story Fall was born. Meeting many musicians and having members come and go, many things happened over the span of 10 years.  In the year 2004, the band became more serious and bigger shows started to come along such as "From First to Last / Chiodos / MXPX / The Color Fred" in Milwaukee, WI. Next came "A Skylit Drive / Four Letter Lie / Before Their Eyes" in Cleveland, OH. There were also many festivals like Summerfest in Warren, MI with "We Came as Romans / Attack Attack" and the Jackson County Fairgrounds with "Otep / Sevendust".

With 3 EP's behind them, this band is not new to the music scene and have also enjoyed quite a bit of press.

Their latest LP,  Stories & Analogies started as a 5 song EP produced by Erik Ron (Good Charlotte, Panic at the Disco, Hit the Lights and Saosin), but within a couple months they signed to Tate Music Group. They were given the option to release the EP with the 5 previously recorded songs or record 7 more at Tate's studio and release a full length album. The result is a full length concept album that tell's a story... hence the name.

Now with only hunter left, acting as a solo artist, he is determined to make this full length a success. Seven Story Fall is looking to create a huge buzz everywhere from newspapers and magazines to exclusive interviews and live shows this year with their first full length on a label.  "We are finally at a point where things are only progressing, and with the release of this new album and music video, we hope to make an impression this time around", says Hunter.

Check out my interview with Hunter in this episode of MCM-TV and be sure to stick around for a bit of his video for "Sing to Me" at the end.

If you are a musician in South East Michigan and would like to become a member, please register.
